The sound of jackboots

Germany's new minister of defense, Karl-Theodor Guttenberg (no relation) declared today that he aims to make military deployment on foreign territory "a matter of course" for the German Bundeswehr, failing to add, "Screw the constitution!" Twenty years after reunification, Germany's significance in a globalized world has grown, he continued.
Guttenberg's comments come almost exactly ten years after the day Joseph Fischer, then Germany's minister of foreign affairs, defended the Bundeswehr's participation in the war against Yugoslavia by candidly comparing Kosovo to Auschwitz.

If you happen to be among those people who think that Germans have 'learned from their past', you're right: we have. And this is what we've come up with.
Be assured: Germany's power elite aren't any more moral or responsible than their counterparts elsewhere. They're just very, very patient.

empeethreeweek november oh nine day seven

WMFW created a little bit of a buzz after their first, and to my knowledge, only, album had come out--only to drop off the radar soon after. I don't know what happened; according to their neglected mySpace page, they are "working on new material" and apparently still playing shows.

Be that as it may, here is the opening track from 'Last Year's Junk', a country/electro/indie rock ballad about cowboys, rockets and satellites. What more can you ask for.
